Four
speakers at the Atheist Alliance
International Convention 2007 held in
Washington D.C. were videotaped for posterity as
they thrashed out questions of atheism and
religion. Hear these four prominent
rationalists talk about pressing issues of our
day on film:Andy Thomson talks about
suicide terrorism; Richard Dawkins talks
about the “The OUT Campaign” and the labeling of
children, among many other things; and two more
speakers, Dan Dennett and Sam Harris also
compare atheism and religion. If you've
ever wanted to hear a Secular Humanist explain
his or her views, this is a good chance to hear
and see Richard Dawkins, a Secular Humanist,
speak his mind.

Growing Up in the Universe
Here is
science as epiphany! For Richard Dawkins, science fulfills the
human needs that religions once filled. This
documentary brilliantly and clearly describes life,
the universe, and our human place in it. In
this film, Dawkins unrolls an educational gem that
mesmerizes young and old alike. His
demonstrations are illuminating as are his wildlife,
his adventures in virtual reality, and his special
guests including Douglas Adams. Dawkins
will enable us to understand the way the universe
works around us and in us. He is an arresting
speaker, never shy of controversy or bold statement.
Perhaps he is the Carl Sagan of a new generation.
His capacity for clear explanation, assisted by
excellent and beautiful illustrations, is
formidable. This is a film you can learn from
and enjoy and please bring your children too
--
it could change their lives!
Richard
Dawkins examines how religious faith is gaining
ground in the face of rational, scientific truth.
This film takes you to some of the world's religious
hot-spots, both in America and the Middle East.
Dawkins meets with religious leaders and their
followers, as well as scientists and skeptics to
examine the power of religion. He explores the
state of the three Abrahamic religions in the world
today, from the political influence of rich and
powerful Christian fundamentalist institutions in
America to the deadly clash of Judaism,
Christianity, and Islam in the Middle East. He
describes the Holy Land as the least enlightened
place in the world, a microcosm of the threat to
rational values and civilization posed by religion,
whose irrational roots, he says, are nourishing
intolerance and murder. However, in spite
irrationality, religions offer a sense of one's
place in the world. This is important to
everyone but has particular significance for
minorities and peoples under political, economic, or
military pressure. Some people may even accept
Dawkins' atheistic and scientific deconstruction of
the religious myths they have grown up with but
still defend and nurture the matrix of institutions,
practices, and relationships which make them who
they are.
Nine months before the release
of his million-copy bestseller,
The God Delusion,
Richard Dawkins had the
world buzzing with his
television documentary
Root of All Evil.
It highlights the dangers of
faith and religion in the 21st
century, and asks people of
reason to say “Enough is enough!”
During the filming, Richard
Dawkins conducted many
fascinating interviews with
people from around the world.
Unfortunately, much of this
footage was cut for time, and
some entire interviews were
omitted. However, this DVD
collection, "The Uncut
Interviews," showcases eight raw
and uncut interviews from the
original tapes, allowing the
viewer a rare vantage point into
these revealing exchanges.
These uncut interviews are as
good as the interviews on
Richard Dawkins DVDs
