Bay Area Spark Collective
Ritual Circle

Presented by   James Bianchi

415-824-4220

Come enjoy the FireDance community and find another home in the Bay Area for your heart songs, your dance, your poetry, your music.  You do not have to be a good singer.  You do not have to know a single chant.  Just bring your enthusiasm and your spark.  The Bay Area Spark Collective is a new flame, kindled from embers carried home from fire circles around the country an intentional community group that meets monthly to celebrate spirit, community, and each other.  Pot luck supper begins at 4:00 pm.  The sacred circle opens the doors at 6:30 pm.  Participants introduce themselves and share their magic;  the four directions are called in;  a chant is sung;  and a sacred play begins.  From here on out, anything can happen:  drumming, a song, a poem, dancing, magic, drawing, writing, massage, deep trance.  As participants take their turns around the circle, they stir the container and mix in their magic to create a synergistic miracle in the space.  Everyone listens to what the moment needs.  Around 9:30 pm the energy of the circle rises to a fever pitch and then sweetly winds down.  The circle is closed with a chant, an "Om," that releases the four directions and plenty of hugs!

Planting Justice would like to invite you to our very first end-of-year fundraising celebration!  We are so excited to celebrate the hard work and quick progress we have made creating tangible change throughout the Bay Area. Today we're on our way to providing a more just and sustainable urban food system for the Bay Area.  Please come enjoy an evening of delicious catered organic food by Pachamana Cafe and entertainment by the finest local performers.  Our festive program includes a Bollywood dance performance and performances by CommuniTree, Mariee Sioux, Dascrybe, and more.  All proceeds go to support our green jobs program and our projects at San Quentin State Prison, middle-schools and high-schools in Oakland, and various backyards and front yards that are helping community members grow healthy food right where they live.

Yule Ritual and Potluck for Women

Presented by    Carolyn Hunt

510-705-8777

Join this sacred and participatory circle of women for a celebration of darkness and the return of the light.  The Goddess Lucina returns, birthing light from the dark and reminding us of the holy spark of creativity within each of us.  We dive deeply into the gifts of the Sacred Dark rest, stillness, contemplation, germination while celebrating the return of the sun!  Sing and dance in safe space as we joyously welcome the return of the sun and bask in the warmth of each other’s offerings.  You are invited to contribute a song, poem, story, dance, blessing, invocation, or other offering that relates to the themes of the season.  Newcomers are most welcome.  These are ideal events for women new to earth-based and women-centered religion and for women who yearn to contribute wisdom and creativity to ritual space.  Carolyn Hunt, a Wiccan priestess, will be your gentle hostess.  Please bring:  a vegetarian dish to share;  plate, utensils, cup;  and bring a candle in a votive or other protected holder.  Children are welcome too, and drums and rattles!
