This is Chris Martenson's famous “crash course” in economics a seminar he previously called "The End of Money."  Chris Martenson is a hero of our times, doing more to upgrade our understanding of the present world crisis and our own hardships than a multitude of traditional theorists.  His razor-sharp thinking is so focused and brilliant that he seems to make his points effortlessly.  But the points he makes are not obvious;  they have been buried in obscurity for ages.  His Crash Course explains the consequences of having a monetary system that MUST GROW linked to an energy system that CAN'T GROW.  Add to that peak depletion across the board of almost all resources due to exponential population growth and you end up with the ingredients that make quite an explosive American pie.  Martenson begins his seminar stating his opinion that the next twenty years will be radically different from the past twenty years.  If you are confused about what is really happening with today's economic crisis, and why everything appears to be crashing all at once, take Martenson's course at Humanist Hall.  His course is an excellent explanation of the flawed economic policies of the U.S., and all the more alarming for taking into account current environmental issues and modern demographics.  Tonight we will show the first third of The Crash Course, about an hour of the total course.

The Invisible Forest

Forests embody threshold spaces where we encounter the spirits of nature as well as ghosts of the psychic, para-spiritual world, says Cedrus Monte in his review of Antero's Alli's film.  It's here in the forest that Antero's dream story begins and winds itself through a rich tapestry of labyrinthine dreams within dreams which eventually carry us through to the shattering and regenerative conclusion of Antero’s cinematic opus.  Here's the story:  A theatre troupe camps out in a forest to perform their director's vision of Antonin Artaud's magic theatre of ghosts, gods, and spirits.  During their forest experiment, Alex, performed by the director Antero Alli, is haunted by disturbing dreams where Artaud appears and mocks his ambitions.  When these strange nightmares persist, Alex stops sleeping in an attempt to regain control over his mind.  Sleep-deprived and with his sanity pushed to its limits, he seeks help from a psychotherapist who suggests hypnosis as a means to uncover the source of his problems.  What follows is a phantasmagorical journey through the internal landscape of Alex's subconscious memories and dreams, a sojourn that leads us to a place beyond belief, beyond words, and beyond the mind itself.
